What is a Site Feed? How do I set one up?

Subscribing to a site feed allows users to have updates sent to them directly either via e-mail or via a news reader such as Bloglines.

If you are reading this post, it is likely that you don't already have a feeder set up, so I have provided step by step instructions.

1. Go Bloglines (www.bloglines.com) and create a user account.
2. Click on the "My Feeds" tab in the upper right hand corner (It is next to the "My Blog" and "Clippings" tab)
3. Once the My Feed tab is showing click on the "Add" link (next to "Edit" and "Options")
4. You will see a dialogue box asking for the URL of the feed to which you wish to subscribe.
5. Open up a new window in your internet browser and go to the Clerkship Notification Blog.
6. Click on the Title of the post for which you want updates. Scroll to the bottom of the comments and look for "Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom)." Copy the link location of the of the "Post Comments (Atom)."
7. Now switch back to the Bloglines window. Paste the above URL into the dialogue box and click "Subscribe".
8. The next screen contains advanced subscription options, ignore these, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Subscribe".
9. You will now see the new subscription listed under the "My Feeds" tabs.
10. Repeat steps 2-9 for each of the posts to which you want to subscribe.

Once you've subscribed you only need to go to bloglines to check for new comments. HOWEVER! There is a lag time (anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour) between when a comment is posted and when it appears in your bloglines feed.
