Ellis is calling
Jones in WD VA is already scheduling interviews
Cacheris made calls on Sept 7th and was interviewing same day.
Payne called this past week as well.

Wilson (Roanoke) has been emailing to schedule interviews.
Brinkema is not accepting applications from graduates only students
Brinkema, Ellis, and Lee have made calls and begun interviews.
Phone interview with Jones in the W.D. Va. on 9/11. It sounds as if he will do some in-person interviews after the initial process.
ellis has hired 1 of 2 clerks and wants to hire the second asap.

Just got a postcard from Hilton today acknowledging receipt of application and informing me that he'll notify if I'm selected for an interview.

Heard from Doumar (ED Norfolk). Any idea on his modus operandi for hiring (e.g., does he interview everyone on his list before making offers, etc.)?
Doumar usually makes quick offers after the interview, expecting an answer right away.

Judge Brinkema hired one clerk (a graduate) over the summer.

Judge Friedman (EDVA-Norfolk) is setting up interviews for the week of Sept. 18
Jones in WDVA-Abingdon is scheduling second interviews in person.
Judge Wilson in Western District of Virginia in Roanoke interviewed this week.

in the phone interview he just let me ramble on and on, saying "interesting" at key times...

Spoke with Doumar's clerk - they wanted to see if applicants were sincere about wanting to live in Norfolk; they will hire 2 clerks. He's senior, but active.

A "ding" is a rejection letter.
I second the question about Hudson's format. I heard he asks you to analyze a case.

Miller (Magistrate, Norfolk) has already hired someone.
I received an e-mail from Bradberry on Sept. 7 saying, "If you are chosen for an interview, you will be notified by e-mail next Thursday, September 14, 2006." (I was not notified.)
Hudson's secretary told me that when I called chambers. I asked whether it was Supreme Court or what and she said "Just whatever the Judge chooses."

Called Hilton's chambers today -- he is apparently not done hiring but whoever answered the phone could not offer any sort of timetable for interviews/completion of hiring.
Sam Wilson has hired. One from Wake Forest and one from UVA, I believe.

My rejection from Jones came via email - looked like a form email sent to a lot of people as it didn't even include my name.

I have not heard from Kelley, so I would assume the OSCAR info is correct.

Call to chambers reveals that Judge Poretz (Magistrate, ED VA) is completing a round of interviews. If he finds his clerks he will close the position, otherwise he will make more calls.
