Wiseman?
Wiseman has two career clerks and is not hiring, as is clearly indicated in the list of judges not hiring this year. Shame, cuz he's great.
Word from the clerk of a Sixth Circuit judge who has interacted with Wiseman's chambers is that he only has one career clerk and the other clerk is noncareer.
Well, he ain't hiring. Whether you call 'em career or not, they're both going to be there until Judge W. retires. As per the clerks themselves, on 9/8, in chambers, over coffee. Seriously, Wiseman ain't hiring.

Does anyone know if any of the Nashville judges are receptive to scheduling interviews for a candidate who will be in the area anyway for a state supreme court interview?
Trauger is done hiring, per a telephone conversation with someone in her chambers today.

Donald started making calls yesterday, she's probably finished, I spoke with her early yesterday and she had only scheduled one person. Haynes has scheduled his final interview sometime before yesterday.
Donald has scheduled most of her interviews, and will be interviewing through next Thursday.

in response to the question re Haynes: when i spoke with him back in early september he indicated that he typically took his time with hiring and that this time may extend past the usual mid-Sept hiring period. i also believe he's only hiring one clerk, as he has a permanent clerk.
Haynes told me he is the last judge to make decisions and his clerk told me that he can give out decisions as late as July and August, right before you start. Totally unacceptable!

I'm not sure if the Haynes comment is completely true, but I would imagine that if it is, that means the judge is likely to hire someone who is already practicing. Thus, 3Ls were never really in contention anyway.
Haynes will not be fun to work for.

i think Haynes would be fine to work for; if anything, i imagine it would be laid-back.

Vescovo is interviewing oct 16-18 and has contacted those she's planning on interviewing
I externed with Haynes, he was great, smart and very laid back.

Does anyone know anything about Judge Phillips? I have an interview with him in Knoxville but I am not sure I really want the job. I'm a very prestigious law review board member and I would only take the pay cut if I didn't have to work very hard.
