by making calls, do you mean calling references, or calling applicants?
because I thought they weren't supposed to call applicants to schedule interviews until noon on the 14th at the earliest, under the law clerk hiring plan...
and has anyone heard anything about who might replace Gierke and Crawford? I haven't seen any news articles or anything, just wondered if there was any gossip going around.
Efrron should be. He has at least one more opening but he only calls one person per spot. Interviews them, offers, and waits for them to accept/decline before interviewing again.

Any word on whether Effron, Baker, and Erdmann are hiring or have already hired their 2007 clerks?
Effron and Baker are hiring for 2007. They specifically requested that applications not be receivd prior to the 5th of Sept.
Effron has made some calls and is looking for 3 clerks

Effron is scheduling interviews. The hiring plan is not applicable to this court, and even the judges it does apply to don't follow it.
The thought that any judge actually follows the plan is, easily, one of the funniest things I've read on here.
any news on Baker yet?

From someone inside the court: no word on who the next two judges will be.
Just got a letter from Erdman. He is not hiring this year.
And found out that Effron has given one offer (of 3) and gives you time to accept.
I heard Baker hired one clerk yesterday.

Effron has made two offers.
Effron may be offering more interviews.
