Welcome to the Clerkship Notification Blog

Introduction

Welcome to the Clerkship Notification Blog for the hunting season of 2006. The goal of this blog is to provide a forum for law clerk applicants to share information regarding their clerkship applications. By using the "comments" function applicants can easily find and share information as to which judges have started calling applicants, which judges have started making offers, and which judges have completed their hiring. Posting is entirely anonymous (though you are, of course, free to sign your name).

Admittedly, this blog presents a classic collective-action problem (each of us has an incentive to read the information while not sharing the information we possess). Yet in spite of this, this blog was an overwhelming success last year and I believe the same will hold true this hunting season.

I encourage all applicants to share whatever information they have, all clerks to share whatever information their judges allow, and all bloggers to link to this site so as to widen our information gathering net.

How to find and share information

Below you will find posts for three categories of judges:

1) Circuit judges and U.S. court judges;
2) District and Bankruptcy judges;
3) State judges (including U.S. territories).

There are separate posts for each Circuit. The district judges are grouped by State/Territory. Finally, the State judges are also grouped by state, though in a different set of posts than the district and bankruptcy judges. Please make sure that you place comments in the correct category.

Examples:

--If you are posting information about Judge Guido Calabresi (2nd Cir.) go to the 2nd Circuit Judges post.

--If you are posting information about Judge John G. Koeltl (S.D.N.Y.) go to the New York District and Bankruptcy Judges post.

--If you are posting information about Judge John Gleeson (E.D.N.Y.) go to the New York District and Bankruptcy Judges post.

--If you posting information Judge Susan Phillips Read (NY App. Ct.) go to the New York State Judges post.

--If you are posting information about Judge Leo M. Gordon on the US Court of International Trade, go to the US Court of International Trade post (which is listed with the Circuit courts)
