The Fourth Circuit is sitting the week interviews are supposed to start, so that might explain some of the jumping of the gun. Niemeyer, Wilkinson, and Widener are notorious for hiring early, so their colleagues might just be playing catch-up.
I was told that Gregory did not intend to interview this week, but he may have changed his mind if he wasn't satisfied with the candidates he saw last week.
I'm one of Gregory's hires and I believe he has more or less filled the spots for next year, but I don't know if all of the offers have been made or accepted.
congrats to the Gregory hires, would you mind advising whether you were hired on the spot, shortly thereafter, or later? I have heard he has 2 slots left to fill.
second poster here again...i thought i should clarify. my personal view is that what happens between judges and their clerks should stay between them. how a judge decides to give an offer is the beginning of that very personal relationship and shouldn't be broadcasted to others. best of luck to those who may have interviews with him...
Second poster: you are, of course, entitled to your beliefs. However, I find it interesting that you seemingly frequent this site, benefiting from the information others post. Then when it happens that you have information that may help others (and may help your future judge's chambers by not getting anymore pestering inquiries), you clam up and assert your beliefs.

Wilkinson is interviewing (both grads and non-grads).

Niemeyer's been hiring. He should be done soon if he's not yet.
Any idea how many Niemeyer's hired so far?
Niemeyer has hired at least two, and he may have hired one today.
How many spots were available total? Three (so he's done) or four? Thanks.
Three
My understanding is that Niemeyer is not done yet.
Niemeyer was still calling to schedule new interviews as of Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone else know whether the comment about Niemeyer's hiring 2 clerks is true?
I also heard that Niemeyer had already hired 2.
Does anyone on this court actually follow the plan?
Gregory hired from Yale.
Judge Motz might follow the plan.

Motz won't be hearing cases next Thursday so she can interview.
Gregory has called 3Ls.

Most judges on this court DO NOT follow the plan. Some hire really early. Some closer to the date.

Niemeyer got his third and presumably is done.
Have it on good authority that Niemeyer is done.

Motz also hired from Virginia
Does anyone know how many vacancies Gregory has left. It looks like from previous posts he has hired one?
Is Gregory still calling for interviews?
not sure how many vacancies Gregory has left, but he has been known to wait until the Spring to hire if he doesn't like who he saw in the Fall
Is Gregory still calling candidates for interviews?
