Say, I got the trivia quiz from Boggs too. I couldn't answer most of the questions and had a bit of of panic attack. Does anyone have insight on what Boggs does with these answers?
Although Boggs uses the questionnaire, in part, to test intelligence, he also uses it to gauge people's interests. In the past, he said that most applicants answer only about 4-5 questions correctly.
I tend to agree with the poster above re: Boggs testing applicants' integrity. But, unless this year's quiz is substantially easier than previous years' quizzes, I think law school graduates competitive for clerkships should be a bit ashamed if they can only answer four or five correctly. Heck, four or five of the questions have no wrong answer (e.g. "What is your favorite movie in the last ten years).
I have talked to a former Boggs clerk, and Boggs definitely uses the questionaire, but not to test intelligence. (He would ask for the LSAT or something like that.) It tests if you have outside interests, cultural knowledge. Cheat at your own peril....
I'm not sure how many total interviews Rogers schedules, but one of his clerkships usually goes to a UK student, and last year I believe he interviewed 5 students from UK, one of which got the position.
Siler doesn't make offers until October. Last year during this week he was hunting bears in Alaska. I would guess that he will be making calls to 3Ls next week, but I do know that he has interviewed some graduates.
I've been told that in the past, Cook interviews numerous people (like 20 in a week) and will not make any offers until after she has interviewed anyone. Whether this is still her policy, I am not sure.
Boggs also indicated that he would not be making decisions immediately. He has DC interview slots on Thursday and Friday, and then the following week on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Louisville, Kentucky.
I've heard that Boggs interviews close to 40 people and that the interviews are short, usually about an hour. Seems like a ton of time to spend interviewing, but that is what I have been told.
i really doubt that about boggs. the 40 number you heard probably referred to the number of quizzes he sends out. i heard from a former clerk that he only sends those out if he's pretty serious about a candidate.
that said, i know of 2 people who took the quiz & didn't get a call.
Boggs does interview a lot of people (don't know the numbers), but he also gives offers during the course of the week and does not wait until the end. That being said, try to schedule your interview at the very beginning. I interviewed with him last year, it was a very pleasant interview and I thought it went very well. However, I interviewed with him on Friday, and later heard he had already hired two of four the previous day. I got a "thanks, but no thanks" letter from him on the following Monday. Fortunately, I got an offer from a Fed. D. Ct. Judge the same day, so it worked out.
I know he's a bit controversial, but he's a very bright judge and seems quite nice. I personally think he'd be great to clerk for.
Does anyone have any info on what an interview with Rogers is like or whether he tends to make offers on the spot? Additionally, any info on what he is like to work for would be appreciated.
Although I had to cancel my interview with Rogers last year after accepting a district court appointment, I have heard that he is a very conservative judge and that the most important factor for him is a candidate's writing ability.
I've heard great things about Rogers from a former clerk. a great mentor, very nice, and very thoughtful as well, tho generally conservative. He's a former professor, and it shows in the mentoring & thoughtfulness, I hear.
Siler does not make offers on the spot. He reportedly doesn't make offers until sometime in October. I know nothing about what clerking for him is like, but he is an avid hunter and his chambers are said to be filled with stuffed and mounted animals.
I also heard that Siler sits by designation in accordance with various hunting seasons. So, when it is hunting time in the states comprising the 11th Cir., he'll sit by designation there, which gives his clerks an opportunity to work in several circuits throughout their clerkship.
Does anyone knows if Daughtrey is still calling? Strange because I see on this website that she was calling as early as 9/14, but I just received a note postmarked 9/19 that said she was in the process of reviewing applications and would call to schedule interviews soon...
Any word on Judge Rogers? I got the impression during my interview that he was going to make offers this weekend or today. Has anyone received an offer yet?
Got a postcard from Daughtrey today (postmarked Friday) saying that she will start reviewing applications and scheduling interviews soon. Commenters here have said she's done. Anyone else get one of these?
I got the Daughtrey postcard (postmarked the 19th) as well, saying she'll review things and schedule interviews soon. I assumed it was just slow getting in to the mail and didn't take it to mean anything (unfortunately)
It has been said before, but Siler is a notoriously late mover. He interviewed some graduates before the timeline dates, but doesn't make offers until mid-October or so. Not sure if he's called current students yet.
I did not phrase my inquiry correctly. Siler has been interviewing current students late last week and early this week. Has anyone who has interviewed with Siler received an offer?
I know that Griffin only hires previous clerks, but I do not know where he has hired from. His previous clerks are William and Mary, Michigan, Chicago, and ??. I am pretty sure he is done though.
In addition to U. Michigan, William & Mary, and U. Chicago, Judge Griffin has also hired a law clerk from Penn Law. He does not consider applicants unless they have at least one year of federal clerkship experience. He is an outstanding person to work for.

Judge Cleland (EDMI) is not hiring clerks this year.
Gibbons has scheduled some interviews.
Judge Cook (6th Cir.) has hired one pre-2007 graduate already and will fill the remaining 3 spots per the Guidelines dates.
Gillman has apparently made at least one hire...
Boggs is contacting by email with his preliminary questionnaire to test your trivial knowledge of various subjects.
Siler was going to start scheduling interviews the week of Sept 5th, for grads only presumably.
Gibbons has hired at least one.
Gilman has hired two.

This is comment is to test the site feed.
I sort of thought he was using it to test if people cheat, since there's really no way you'd know all those things w/o using google or the library.

If you recieved a Boggs' questionaire, what are your chances of actually getting an interview?
Norris' secretary sent out a supplemental application last week.
Judge Norris (Columbus) has sent out a supplementary application to 40/300 applications and plans to offer about 5 interviews.
I have talked to a former Boggs clerk, and Boggs definitely uses the questionaire, but not to test intelligence. (He would ask for the LSAT or something like that.) It tests if you have outside interests, cultural knowledge. Cheat at your own peril....
and he's still sending out the quiz to new folks...
Don't cheat on the Boggs quiz. He's a good judge, but it isn't worth it.
Any word on Sutton?
Keith is scheduling interviews for this week and next. Calls went out today (9/13)
Judge Clay has interviews scheduled this week.
Rogers is sending emails to schedule interviews. Any idea how many people he normally interviews or any information about the interview?
Gibbons has sent out e-mails
Boggs is sending e-mails offering chances to interview.

I'm not sure how many total interviews Rogers schedules, but one of his clerkships usually goes to a UK student, and last year I believe he interviewed 5 students from UK, one of which got the position.
Does anyone have a feel for Judge Cook's offer tendencies (i.e., on the spot, call you later, take a day, etc.)?
has anyone heard from batchelder?

Hunting bears, I love it...

McKeague called and emailed yesterday.
I concur, Ripple was still inviting late yesterday. (But he's on the 7th, not 6th.)
I heard Cook makes decisions quickly.
Norris is not calling anyone for at least two weeks.
Boggs sent out an email this morning
Cook's clerk indicated that she would make decisions on the 21st, although I think that may have been pushed back to the 22nd.
anybody know how many slots Moore, Gilman or Gibbons have?
As of last week, Gilman had hired 2 of 4, and Gibbons had hired 1 of 4.
Boggs also indicated that he would not be making decisions immediately. He has DC interview slots on Thursday and Friday, and then the following week on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Louisville, Kentucky.
does anyone know if Cole makes exploding offers?
Anyone know if Moore makes exploding offers?
How many people does Boggs interview? It seems like a lot - anyone have some numbers?
Does anyone have numbers on how many Cook is interviewing? I know she was looking to interview at least 5...
anyone hear anything about Martin?
I've heard that Boggs interviews close to 40 people and that the interviews are short, usually about an hour. Seems like a ton of time to spend interviewing, but that is what I have been told.

Does anybody know what the Boggs interview is like? Is it a fed. jur. and constitutional law quiz or more of a "get to know you" kind of interview.
Does anybody know whether Judge Daughtrey makes exploding offers?
If Martin hasn't called it's because he's been in Cincinnati this past week.
actually, I think Martin has hired a bunch, if not all, of his clerks already.

any word on cole?
Siler has sent out interview invites by e-mail.
Anyone have any info on what an interview with Siler is like or how he is to work for?
does anyone know if Siler makes offers on the spot?

Cook has hired at least one 3L.
Clay is still interviewing
Cole anyone?
Keith??
has anyone heard from Moore?
Judge Cook (6th Cir.) has finished hiring.
Has Gibbons already selected everyone she is interviewing? Or as she already hired?
Gibbons has hired at least one, and is conducting 10+ interviews today. I believe she has contacted everyone she plans to interview.
Anyone know about Sutton/Cole? Have they already interviewed?
Any word on whether Judge Boggs has already extended offers this year, as he apparently did last year?
Sutton has had at least a few interviews already.
Boggs said he'd make offers by the end of next week or the start of the week after that (by monday the 1st at the latest) though he may go sooner.
Sutton and Cole have interviewed, and at least some hires.
Anyone know if Rogers has already hired anyone or even if he makes offers on the spot?
Has J. Moore made offers, and if so, how many?
Anyone know if Gibbons has made her post-interview selections?
Keith is done.
Has anyone who has interviewed with Rogers received an offer yet?
Gibbons has one spot left and is doing more interviews on Monday. No idea how many are being interviewed Monday.
Chief Judge Boggs has hired at least one clerk. I'm not sure if he has filled all the positions.
Has Gilman called to make offers to those he interviewed Thursday and Friday? Any word on him?
Does anyone knows if Daughtrey is still calling? Strange because I see on this website that she was calling as early as 9/14, but I just received a note postmarked 9/19 that said she was in the process of reviewing applications and would call to schedule interviews soon...
daughtrey is done
Does anyone else know if Boggs is done or how many spots are still open?
Does anyone know anything about McKeague? Has he hired, or even interviewed yet?
Gilman interviewed Friday and Saturday. 15 people/ 2 spots. Don't think any offers made as of Sat. AM.
Judge Moore finished on Friday.
McKeague's people cancelled my Tuesday interview and said he was done.
Cole has made at least one offer.
Any word on Judge Rogers? I got the impression during my interview that he was going to make offers this weekend or today. Has anyone received an offer yet?
Any update on Batchelder?
Rogers hired at least one over the weekend.
Any idea where Rogers hired from?
Is Boggs done? If so, does anyone know where he hired from?
Gilman is done.
Boggs has given out 1 offer so far. He also interviewed throughout this weekend.
Got a postcard from Daughtrey today (postmarked Friday) saying that she will start reviewing applications and scheduling interviews soon. Commenters here have said she's done. Anyone else get one of these?
got the same postcard on Friday...
Got an email from McKeague saying thanks, but no thanks. Email said he is has filled the position.
I got the Daughtrey postcard (postmarked the 19th) as well, saying she'll review things and schedule interviews soon. I assumed it was just slow getting in to the mail and didn't take it to mean anything (unfortunately)
Daughtery scheduled interviews last thurs and fri and a current clerk did not expect there to be any more interviews.
Rogers is done.
I heard Rogers hired from Vanderbilt. Anyone know where else?
Any news on whether Gibbons will be finished hiring today? She wasn't done as of yesterday afternoon.
I think Boggs is done - he's sending out rejection emails.
Pretty sure Batchelder is done.
Rogers probably hired one from Kentucky, as he usually does.
I called Batchelder yesterday, the office said she was still reviewing applications
Daughtrey is finished
Gibbons is done.
Anyone hear from Siler?
It has been said before, but Siler is a notoriously late mover. He interviewed some graduates before the timeline dates, but doesn't make offers until mid-October or so. Not sure if he's called current students yet.
I did not phrase my inquiry correctly. Siler has been interviewing current students late last week and early this week. Has anyone who has interviewed with Siler received an offer?
Who did Boggs hire?
Boggs hired three, one from Notre Dame.
Boggs also hired one from Virginia.
Does anyone have a copy of the Boggs quiz that they'll post below???
It's available here.

As to the last comment, how do you know he is done and do you know where he hired from to this point?
I know that Griffin only hires previous clerks, but I do not know where he has hired from. His previous clerks are William and Mary, Michigan, Chicago, and ??. I am pretty sure he is done though.
Anyone know where Keith is at?
In addition to U. Michigan, William & Mary, and U. Chicago, Judge Griffin has also hired a law clerk from Penn Law. He does not consider applicants unless they have at least one year of federal clerkship experience. He is an outstanding person to work for.
Does anyone know how it is to work for Clay, whether he has hired all of his clerks for this year, and if so, where they graduated?
