Benton is calling now (Friday).
Murphy is interviewing on Wed. I think that she has 3 slots. She is aggressive about getting clerks, so I assume that she has called everyone by this point.
Has Arnold, Riley, or Smith contacted people yet?
This Circuit seems like it has the most judges behind the curve in calling. Either that, or more judges on this Circuit pick clerks who have better things to do than check blogs.
i think this circuit may also use a lot of connections-based & local hiring? regularly take clerks from local schools on the advice of a trusted prof?
Actually, lots of the judge hire only from top schools, but you must have a reason to be in this part of the country. Judges might give one spot every few years to a local school.
Has anyone scheduled an interview with Bye?
FYI -- May I recommend not posting your inclinations to certain judges, as current clerks read this as well.
I agree with the previous post - I scheduled an interview with him and would be thrilled to get it, especially since I am from the state.
I wonder how many of these posters are just messing with people's minds to psyche us all out ...

Any news on the fine judges in Little Rock (i.e., Smith or Arnold)?
I think Arnold is retiring at the end of the month? You should check on that to confirm, though.
Arnold is not retiring, but is only hiring one clerk. Smith has made calls.

Michigan and Minnesota. She hired two last year; one from Duke and one from St Thomas, so she has four clerks total for 2007-2008.

I heard he took one of the clerks Alito hired last year while still on the 3d Cir., although I dont know where s/he is from

i don't think that's correct re: murphy's hires.
or at least it seems one of those schools' career office is unaware of that hire...
well I know that Murphy hired one from Michigan and one from Minnesota during interviews this year and has one coming from St Thomas which she hired last year. I am fairly certain the fourth clerk, who I know was hired last year, is from Duke, but that is the only one I am a bit uncertain about.
Perhaps career services at one of these schools is incorrect, or perhaps, like at my former law school, the students simply forget to tell career services.

Colloton has four clerks this year but I am uncertain if he is going to stay at four or go back down to three. This years are from UVA, Chicago, Harvard, and Yale. The clerk from Yale was originally hired by Alito before the promotion. Rumor has it that he is clerking for Alito next year.

You should send in the app and see what happens. I *think* he has a couple of career clerks, so I am not sure how many spots he would have open.
